Review ~ Fire Inside by Kristen Ashley

Title: Fire Inside
Author: Kristen Ashley
Release Date: June 4, 2013

Synopsis:
Lanie Heron isn’t looking for love—no surprise, considering her last serious relationship nearly got her killed. So when Lanie propositions Hop Kincaid, all she wants is one wild night with the hot-as-hell biker who patrols with the Chaos Motorcycle Club...

For Hop, Lanie has always been untouchable. She’s too polished and too classy for his tastes. But when she gives Hop the once-over with her bedroom eyes and offers him a night in paradise, he can’t say no. And he doesn’t regret it when he finds that Lanie is the best thing that’s ever happened to him—in or out of bed. Now the trick will be to convince her of that.

My Review:

Let me start off by saying if you've never read a Kristen Ashley book do yourself a favor and pick up one of her many books. She's sure to have a book to cover your likes, whether it be werewolves, cops, bounty hunters, commandos, or in this case bikers. KA has a way with writing badass men and her books do not disappoint. And Hop and Lanie's story Fire Inside was not an exception. Fire Inside is the second book from her Chaos series, but these characters actually started in the Dream Man series (If you haven't read it, do yourself a favor and read it! You can thank me for the suggestion later).

Lanie Heron went through hell and back in Motorcycle Man watching her fiancée being killed and taking bullets herself. Fire Inside takes up 8 years after that and though she's trying to put up a good front she's not over it and can't let another man in.

Hopper Kincade is a member of the Chaos MC and has been for years. The glimpse you get of Hop in MM does not put him in a good light. But you get to see the real Hop in Fire Inside and he's nothing but badass biker goodness. He's now divorced from his first wife (old lady) and sharing custody of their two kids. I honestly thought I was going to hate Hop all because what I saw from him in MM, but by the end of Fire Inside the guy had melted my heart (he's that good).

Lanie gets a wild hair and decides she wants "one night" with Hop. She's admired him from a far all these years and she decides she wants to give herself this one night with him. She picked him because she was attracted to him, but also because she thought she'd be able to walk away with out getting hurt. Hop is against the idea at first. He knows what Lanie's been through. And he also knows she's close to the MC's president Tack and his old lady Tyra (Tyra isn't too fond of Hop because of something that happened in MM), so he knows she won't like the idea of her friend hooking up with him. But Hop can't resist the drama, class, and beauty that is Lanie.

Their "one night" is not enough. Lanie holds back, still fighting with her demons, and not wanting to let him in. But Hop is determined to tear down her walls and prove he'll be there to protect her. Their relationship is a constant battle. There's one drama after another thrown their way; messed up parents, Lanie's demons, Hops demons, Chaos problems. But somehow these two come out of it together, and stronger for having dealt with it all.

In true KA fashion she hits you with a freakin' awesome Epilogue at the end and I have to say it was one of my favorites.

Since I'll never be able to stop telling you how much I think you should read this book (or any other by KA) I'll leave you with some quotes from Fire Inside.

"I'm guessin' you get what this is. We played with fire, we got burned now we gotta contain the blaze, but sayin' that, I got no intention of puttin' it out and babe, I'm gettin', since  you left me a trail of breadcrumbs to this room, you don't either." ~ Hop

I'd give him one thing. I'd give him a million things. I'd give him anything.
I knew that in my bones.
That wasn't about great sex.
That was about him tucking the covers around me before he turned out the lights. ~ Lanie

"Anything you need, babe, I'm there for you one way of another." ~ Hop

"Every step, every breath, every second I lived on this earth, I'm thankful for, no matter how fucked up or whacked or hard or good, 'cause all that shit led me to you." ~ Hop

About the Author:

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better
